Lime Green Donuts & Dog Sweatshirts in Bangkok

One thing this trip has confirmed is that our hearts lie in the metropolis. The small towns we explore are amazing in their own right, but we feel most at ease in the hustle and bustle of it all. Bangkok was not an exception, with on-point subways, beautiful skylines, and amazing food.

One of the first things we did in Bangkok was go on a food tour of the city. Good choice, us. The standard cuisine in Bangkok isn't just curry like in the south, so it was fun to try food we wouldn't have thought to order on our own (like the most amazing lime green donuts).
Along with the food tour, we got a solid Thai sex education class while visiting the temple. Key takeaways: no sex before marriage, and don't get drunk, or you'll make bad choices that lead to heartbreak and babies.

Another huge win was the Chatuchack Weekend Market. It is regularly ranked one of the top markets in the world. We went right after the food tour wrapped up in the afternoon, and spent 4 hours getting lost through the market. It's crazy. [Pro tip: It closes early, like 6pm. You can easily spend all day there, but 4 hours was plenty for us.]
So run, don't walk, to score your much-needed used dog sweatshirts, overpriced boutique sweaters, bamboo kitchenware, and questionably-sanitary street food. You won't be disappointed.

Also, another plug for sak yants. This experience was our favorite thing we've done on this entire trip. Read the full details here!

The last major activity we did in Bangkok was Terminal 21. This is a mall, where every floor is themed like a different part of the world. It was wild. Turns out that people love malls in Bangkok because of the crazy heat and humidity [they're a smart bunch]. We spent hours exploring the stores and stations. Also, the food court is mind-blowing. Food was super-cheap (like $1.00) for an amazing meal.

Ben then surprised me with 2 nights at the Marriott Bangkok Sukhumvit to celebrate one year since our engagement. It was incredible. The small things (like having a shower that is enclosed), and even the big things (hellooooo bathtub and luxurious king-sized bed), felt so gloriously glutenous.
