After our amazing dolphin encounter, we spend a day bombing around Kaikoura, checking out the seemingly abandoned town that had just been hit with a major earthquake only 8 weeks earlier. It was a fantastic, low key day of reading and wine and card games.
We headed back to our B&B, the Bendamere House, to watch one of the most impressive sunsets ever while snuggling in bed and having a great heart-to-heart. Mid-conversation, Ben asks me "If I proposed to you right now, would you say yes?" I told him obviously I would. He immediately stood up, rummaged around in his bag, and turned around with a box in his hand.
"What are you doing?" I just kept repeating, thinking he was just joking around at first. Then he gets on one knee next to the bed, and is saying amazing things, while I'm sobbing, and he opens the box to the most beautiful ring I've ever seen.
It was absolutely perfect.
And, after all of that packing, I had no need to worry: I was naked anyways.
Here are some pics of the sunset, as well as right after I said yes (after I threw some clothes on #yourewelcome).
I learned afterwards that Ben actually had a whole big thing planned, to take me up to a mountain in Queenstown, with a photographer booked and everything. Turns out he just couldn't wait anymore, which made it that much more perfect.
We still met up with Kellie (of Kellie Francis Photography) for an engagement session on the top of the Queenstown Hill. She is amazing. We had so much fun, and our photos are absolutely breathtaking.
Hands-down the best part of sabbatical. Nothing else could even compete.
YAY!
